Online Nutrition Programs, Ranked by the Data

These rankings compare 62 online nutrition programs at 51schools across 29 states. Every listed program links to the school’s page describing its online delivery. Programs that require regular campus attendance are listed separately in the on-campus nutrition rankings.

32 of the 62 are reported in the federal dietetics field. That field code describes subject matter; it does not prove that a specific program is ACEND-accredited or qualifies a student for the RDN exam. Use the classification to narrow a search, then verify the exact degree in ACEND’s directory.

Nutrition is not one field with one classification. It runs across three federal code families. Those codes organize the comparisons here, but they are not substitutes for program-specific accreditation.

On-campus nutrition program rankings

Compare 31 nutrition degrees that require regular campus attendance in the on-campus rankings. Each program card links to the school’s delivery information.

How these rankings are scored

Five factors, all computable for every program from public reporting: completion rate (30), cost (25), program scale (20), access (15) and public documentation (10). Cost and scale are graded against the other programs on the same page, because tuition and conferral volume are not comparable across award levels. Which also means a score on one page is not a score on another. Every card opens to show its own breakdown. The full methodology sets out what each factor measures and what it deliberately leaves out.

Dietitians and nutritionists earn a national median of $76,400 on 77,570 jobs, with the middle half between $63,080 and $89,340. Pay broken out by state shows where that median moves most.
